Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
* Immediate medical assistance required: No
* Skin contact: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
* Eye contact: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
* Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, seek medical advice.
* Ingestion: Rinse mouth out with water. Seek medical advice.
* Emergency equipment: Provide wash facilities for eyes and skin near work area.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media:
* Suitable: Carbon dioxide, dry chemicals, foam, water spray (mist). Use media appropriate for surrounding fire.
* Exposure hazards: High temperatures may liberate toxic or corrosive gases. Do not breathesmoke or vapours.
* Protective equipment for fire-fighters: Self contained breathing apparatus. Wear suitable protective clothing.
Accidental release measures
* Personal precautions: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. Isolate the sources of the spill(s) leak(s) and evacuate all personnel from danger area.
* Environmental precautions: Take up small spills with dry chemical absorbent. Large spills may be taken up with pump or vacuum and finished off with dry chemical absorbent. Do not empty into drains.
* Methods for cleaning up: Residue may be washed down with water. Shovel up residues and place in a labelled sealable container for subsequent safe disposal. Put leaking container into a labelled drum or overdrum.
Handling and storage
* Handling: Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
* Storage: Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Keep container tightly closed. Explosion-proof electrical equipment. Equipment should be grounded. Mechanical ventilation is recommended. Local exhaust is needed at source of vapours.
