Additional information

The results of a Reverse Mutagenicity test on Bacteria, an in-vitro Chromosome Abberation study using cultured mammalian cells and a mouse lymphoma assay on 4 -methylpent-1-ene were all negative. Hence, as the in vitro genotoxicity studies were negative and, in accordance with Regulation (EC) 1907/2006, investigation of germ cell mutagenicity in vivo is unnecessary.

Short description of key information:
Reverse Mutagenicity test on Bacteria of 4-methyl-1-pentene : Negative (OECD 471).

Chromosome Aberration study of 4-methyl-1-pentene using cultured mammalian cells : Negative (OECD 473).

4-methyl pent-1-ene: L5178Y TK +/- mouse lymphoma assay: Negative (OECD 476).

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item is not considered to be mutagenic based upon the available in-vitro data and as the in vitro genotoxicity studies were negative investigation of germ cell mutagenicity in vivo is unnecessary according to Regulation (EC) 1907/2006.
