Additional information

According to Annex VIII Column 2 of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006), information on hydrolysis is not required for biodegradable substances.

Regarding phototransformation/photolysis, zinc bis[12-hydroxyoctadecanoate] is produced from natural fatty materials, i.e. 12-hydroxystearic (C18) acid, and consists of approximately 90% natural fatty acids and 10% zinc. Fatty acids biodegrade readily according to the β-oxidation pathway including three major steps (activation in the cytosol, transport into mitochondria, β-oxidation until the entire chain is cleaved into acetyl CoA units). Thus, stable degradation products are not being formed in the environment. Furthermore, breaking down by photons is not expected to be relevant for zinc bis[12-hydroxyoctadecanoate] under typical environmental conditions.
