Administrative data
First-aid measures
discomfort.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thoroughly for at least 15 minutes. If signs of
discomfort, seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. If signs of discomfort, seek
medical advice.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice.
Fire-fighting measures
Product arising from burning: Carbon and nitrogen oxides.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full breathing apparatus and chemical resistant gloves, face
shield and coveralls.
Accidental release measures
Avoid the generation of dust. Dust mask, gloves and goggles
should be worn as minimum protection to those handling the
spill. Wash area with water and either flush to a process
or foul drainage sewer or absorb onto suitable material for
collection and disposal. Avoid run off into water courses.
Dispose of as chemical waste in accordance with local and
national legislation.
Handling and storage
procedures for powders. Care should be taken to avoid the
generation of dust to reduce the risk of inhalation
exposure. Care should also be taken to avoid sources of
ignition and to reduce the risk of static discharge.
Storage: Store cool and dry in the original containers.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Packed in 25 kg lots in polythene lined fibre kegs to meet
UN specification.

Stability and reactivity
Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Dust explosion: A study by DusTech Inc (Augusta, NJ, USA) has shown that
TIC-A dust presents a dust explosion hazard. The minimum
spark ignition energy is 0.1-0.4J and the explosivity
(Hartmann bomb) is severe (E.S. >2). The calculated Kst is
236-238 bar m/sec. Assigned hazard class is St-2.
Care should be taken to avoid the generation of dust and
when handling, to ensure that there are no sources of
ignition and that equipment is suitably earthed to prevent
the build-up of static.
Dust explosion determined by test: Y
Disposal considerations
consumed in the reaction. Un-used material which has become
contaminated should be destroyed.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is recommended for disposal
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Under certain conditions, landfill may be applicable.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable for the public
