First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If signs/symptoms develop, get
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at
least 15 minutes. Get immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected area with soap and water. If signs/symptoms
develop, get medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give victim two glasses of water.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get
immediate medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Use fire extinguishers with class B extinguishing agents
(e.g., dry chemical, carbon dioxide).

contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Observe precautions from other sections. Call 3M- HELPS line
(1-800-364-3577) for more information on handling and
managing the spill. Evacuate unprotected and untrained
personnel from hazard area. The spill should be cleaned up
by qualified personnel. Ventilate the area with fresh air.
For large spill, or spills in confined spaces, provide
mechanical ventilation to disperse or exhaust vapors, in
accordance with good industrial hygiene practice. Warning! A
motor could be an ignition source and could cause flammable
gases or vapors in the spill area to burn or explode.
Contain spill. For larger spills, cover drains
and build dikes to prevent entry into sewer systems or
bodies of water. Working from around the edges of the spill
inward, cover with bentonite, vermiculite, or commercially
available inorganic absorbent material. Mix in sufficient
absorbent until it appears dry.
Collect as much of the spilled material as possible. Clean
up residue with water. Place in a metal container approved
for transportation by appropriate authorities. Seal the
container. Dispose of collected material as soon as
possible.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid breathing of vapors, mists or spray. Do not breathe
thermal decomposition products. For industrial or
professional use only.
Storage: Store away from acids. Keep container in well-ventilated
area.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Product will be packaged in HDPE containers (typically
100mL, 4L, and 20L sizes). Product can be safely packaged
in glass containers as well. Formulated etching & cleaning
solutions will be packaged in high density polyethylene
containers up to 55 gallons.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Product is used in extremely low quantities and in an
environment not conducive to reclamation, thus recovery and
recycling are not practical.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration of the product as-sold is viable. Most
properly operating incinerators reach a temperature (~926 C
or 1700 F) and have a retention time (3 seconds or more)
sufficient for complete destruction. It is recommended that
this material be slowly metered to an incinerator that is
properly equipped with flu gas scrubbers, as HF will be
generated curing combustion. The material could also be
sent to a chemical waste facility for disposal. Once
diluted for use, the preparation becomes a poor candidate
for incineration due to the large volume of water. Disposal
must be in compliance with all applicable federal, state,
and local regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The release of the preparation to wastewater treatment is
unlikely to exhibit significant environmental impact, nor
would it be expected to disrupt the operation of properly
operating wastewater treatment systems. Concentrations
discharged to wastewater are very low (calculated to be <10
parts per trillion), and will ultimately degrade to
perfluorobutane sulfonate (PFBS).
3M's research and experience indicate that reclamation
through some physical or chemical means (e.g., filtering,
precipitating, etc.) at these concentrations is not a viable
option
