Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: ready biodegradability
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is inorganic
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVINGAccording to column 2 of Annex VII (standard information requirements for substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 a study to determine ready biodegradability does not need to be conducted if the substance is inorganic. Lutetium-yttrium oxyorthosilicate, cerium doped is a stable inorganic compound which is manufactured by smelting of the underlying metal oxides. Due to the strictly inorganic character of the substance, a study to determine the ready biodegradability does not need to be conducted under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).

Description of key information

According to column 2 of Annex VII (standard information requirements for substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 a study to determine ready biodegradability does not need to be conducted if the substance is inorganic.  Lutetium-yttrium oxyorthosilicate, cerium doped is a stable inorganic compound which is manufactured by smelting the underlying metal oxides.

Due to the strictly inorganic character of the substance, a study to determine the ready biodegradability does not need to be conducted under Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH).
