First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures
IF exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention. The first responders must always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (see SECTION 8.2).
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
The substance has not been fully investigated from a toxicological point of view.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Basic first aid and symptomatic treatment. Symptoms of poisoning may occur even at a later stage after the exposure; therefore, medical surveillance is recommended for 48 hours after the accident.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media
Use extinguishing media appropriate to the source of the fire and the surrounding area.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
The substance is not flammable.
Advice for firefighters
Evacuate and isolate the area until complete fire extinction, by limiting access only to trained personnel. Firefighters must always wear appropriate protective equipment: positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus; fireproof clothing; fireproof gloves; firefighter’s boots. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing gases/vapours. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Stay upwind. Remove containers if it can be done without risk. Prevent the contaminated extinguishing water flowing into drains or waterways.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment, and procedures in case of emergency
Alert the emergency personnel. Evacuate and isolate the area until complete dispersion of the substance and restrict the access only to trained personnel. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust/mist/vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (see SECTION 8.2).
Environmental precautions
Prevent the substance from leaking into the environment and run off into drains, surface waters and groundwater. Alert competent authorities if large amounts into drains or watercourses.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Transfer in a properly labeled container. Dispose of in accordance with local and national legislation. Clean surface thoroughly in order to remove residual contamination.
Reference to other sections
See SECTION 8.2 and SECTION 13.1.
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18 for transported isolated intermediates. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at the manufacturing site.
Precautions for safe handling
The work place and work methods shall be organized in such a way that direct contact with the substance is prevented or minimized. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing dust/mist/vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (see SECTION 8.2). Do not eat, drink, or smoke during use. Wash hands and other exposed areas after use. Wash periodically clothes and personal protective equipment to remove contaminants. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated place. Avoid exposure to moisture and direct sunlight. Store away from heat/sparks/open flames. Avoid the accumulation of static discharges. Store away from incompatible materials (see SECTION 10.5).
Specific end use(s)
Pharmaceutical intermediate.
