Description of key information

The lowest EC50 value was 3.1 (1.4-4.2) mg/L for Yield. The 72-hour Average Growth Rate value was empirically determined to be EC50 >5.0 mg a.i./L. The No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) for both Yield and Growth Rate was 10 mg/L the highest concentration tested.

The NOEC for both Yeild and Growth Rate was 10 mg/L the highest concentration tested

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L

Additional information

In a GLP compliant guideline, the effect of the test substance on the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was determined. Results are reported as mean measured concentrations from 72-hour EC10, EC20 and EC50 values for biomass expressed as yield and average growth rate data. Results are calculated from the 0-hour to 72-hour cell density counts. The empircally derived EC50 >5.0 mg a.i. /L was not futher refined since the highest concentration tested represents the functional limit of solubility of the test substance under testing conditions. Additionally the No-Observed-Effect Concentration (NOEC) values for total yield and average growth rate are reported as 10 mg/L above which the functional limit of solubility is exceeded for the test substance under testing conditions.
