Description of key information

The substance is a clear colourless liquid at room temperature. No melting or boiling points were determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). However, a glass transition was observed at -78.8°C (194.4K). Also, boiling of the test item was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started. Reaction and/or decomposition of the test item was observed at temperatures of > 175°C (> 448K). Using a pycnometer the density of the test item at 20°C was 0.898 g/cm³ (0.898 x 10³ kg/m³). The isothermal thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) effusion method was applied for the determination of the vapour pressure of the test item as 0.06 Pa at 20°C (293K) and 0.10 Pa at 25°C (298K). The log Pow of the test item was > 7.2 following the HPLC method. The water solubility was determined to be < 0.05 mg/L at 20°C (pH 6.6-6.7) using the flask methodology. The Pensky-Martens Closed Cup flash point was 146°C and an auto-ignition temperature of 235°C was reported.

Data waiving was presented for the following endpoints:

  • Granulometry: the substance is a liquid;
  • Surface Tension: surface activity is not expected or cannot be predicted;
  • Flammable Solids: the substance is a liquid;
  • Flammable Gases: the substance is a liquid;
  • Substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases: the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water;
  • Pyrophoric liquids: the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days);
  • Explosiveness: there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties; and
  • Oxidising liquids: there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties.
