Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension of test item was determined by ring method at 20 ± 0.5 °C. The method was based on the measurement of the force which was necessary to exert vertically on a ring in contact with the surface of the liquid. The tensiometer was calibrated using analytical grade water at 23 ±
0.5 °C before the measurements. The surface tension of water was found within the acceptance criteria (72.3 ± 0.5 mN/m). 90% saturated solution of test item was prepared in analytical grade water. Three samples of the test item were prepared in analytical grade water to determine the surface tension at 20 ± 0.5 °C. The surface tension of three samples of the test item was found 55.4 mN/m, 55.7 mN/m and 55.9
mN/m respectively. The mean surface tension of the test item was found 55.7 mN/m.
The test item was considered as surface active compound as the surface tension value was found less than 60 mN/m.
Based on the results obtained from the study, it is concluded that, the surface tension of 1-Benzyl-5-phenylbarbituric acid (BPBA) is 55.7 mN/m at 20 ± 0.5 °C.
