Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
This substance is not explosive when exposed to thermal or mechanical stress under the conditions of the test.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Explosiveness:
- non explosive
Additional information
This non explosive nature of this substance was determined by running a test in accordance with EC Directive 84/449 A.14 "Explosive properties" (1984).
In addition, since the molecule contains a nitro group that is known to promote, in some cases, the explosive properties of a molecule, we calculated the Oxygen Balance (OB) of our molecule, according to the guidance document issued by ECHA and found:
OB = -223
Normally, since this value is less than -200, we would not have needed to run a test, however, since we are close to the limit and because of the presence of an azo group in the molecule, we decided to run the experimental test, in accordance with the recommendation of the guidance document. The test confirmed that this substance is not an explosive.
Justification for classification or non-classification
