Results and discussion

Results:
Percent wt. DMSO Extract: 1.23 %

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Because polycyclic aromatics are the principal, if not sole, carcinogens in petroleum fractions, Method IP 346 has been widely used as a screening tool for assessing their carcinogenic potential. For this reason, The European Commission has specified the use of Method IP 346 as the basis for labeling certain petroleum streams for carcinogenicity, namely, the categories designated "other lubricant base oils," "treated distillate aromatic extracts," and "foots oils." Streams from these categories will be classified as carcinogenic unless they can be demonstrated to contain less than 3% (m/m) DMSO extract by IP 346.

The substance has been assessed using this method, with the following results:

Percent wt. DMSO Extract 1.23 %

Classification as "Carcinogenic" is therefore not applicable.
