Principles of method if other than guideline:
- In an Erlenmeyer flask, add 25 mL of sample;
- Pour water into the dropping funnel;
- Connect the Erlenmeyer flask with a hose that is immersed in a water solution (make sure that the connection connecting the tube to the Erlenmeyer flask is tight);
- Open the valve of the bulb, and observe over time the level of the liquid in the pipe immersed in the beaker. Gaseous evolution caused by the addition of water to the sample would lead to a decrease in the liquid height and then bubbling;
- In the event of gas evolution, we will continue the handling according to the recommendations of the standard NF T20-040. This standard specifies a method for determining the flammability of gases released after hydrolysis of solid or liquid chemicals.

By adding 500 mL of water in the same 50 mL sample, no gas was observed. In addition, we do not observe a rise in temperature. We therefore conclude that the substance is not flammable on contact with water.
