Description of key information

TS-ED 532 has very low acute toxicity. The acute oral and dermal toxicities of TS-ED 532 is greater than 2000 mg/kg bodyweight and therefore considered to be very low.  No acute inhalation toxicity of TS-ED 532 is expected. Absorption via the respiratory system is considered negligible. TS-ED 532 is a non-volatile liquid; the vapour pressure is approximately 5-10x10-8 Pa at room temperature (20-25 °C). Formation of aerosols is not expected.

Additional information

The acute oral toxicity study of TS-ED 532 has not been performed. Based on the results from a 90-day oral toxicity study, in which a NOAEL of 5000 mg/kg bw was derived, it is concluded that the acute oral toxicity is greater than 2000 mg/kg bw.

The acute dermal toxicity of TS-ED 532 was tested in rats by dermal application. It is concluded that the LD50 for acute dermal toxicity of TS-ED 532 is greater than 2000 mg/kg bw.

The acute inhalation toxicity study of TS-ED 532 has not been performed. The vapour pressure of TS-ED 532 was determined to 1.1x10-7 Pa at 25 °C and 4.8x10-8 Pa at 20 °C. Thus TS-ED 532 is not volatile and absorption via the respiratory system is considered negligible. Inhalation of TS-ED 532 is therefore not the most relevante route of human exposure. Formation of aerosols is not expected.

Overall, TS-ED 532 has very low acute toxicity.

Justification for classification or non-classification

TS-ED 532 has been shown to have very low acute toxicity by the oral and dermal route i.e greater than 2000 mg/kg bw. Absorption via the respiratory system is considered negligible. Based on these result, TS-ED 532 is considered not hazardous and shall not be classified according to GHS and DSD-DPD.
