Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Study Initiation Date: 24 August 2017; Experimental Completion Date: 04 December 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
GLP compliance:
yes

Specific details on test material used for the study:
Source: ExxonMobil Research and Engineering (Paulsborro, NJ)
Lot: 17-064163-4
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 20 March 2019
-Purity test date: 25 September 2017
Appearance: Light grey powder
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 1.45 - < 1.99
Temp.:
25 °C
Remarks on result:
not measured/tested
Remarks:
the pH value is not specified by the HPLC method
Details on results:
Three test substance peaks were detected between approximately 1.5 and 2.8 minutes. The first peak, at approximately 1.5 minutes, eluted before or with the thiourea and was therefore determined to be unretained and was not included in calculations. The next two peaks, at approximately 2.2 and 2.8 minutes, were used to calculate the log Pow of the test substance as 1.45 and 1.99. A weighted average was not reported for the test substance as it is not a group of homologues.
Executive summary:

The reference substances used in the test had results that were consistent with those listed in OECD TG 117. At 25°C, the average log Powvalues were estimated by the HPLC estimation method to be 1.45 to 1.99 for lithium salicylate.

Description of key information

At 25°C, the average log Powvalues were estimated by the HPLC estimation method to be 1.45 to 1.99 for lithium salicylate tested in accordance with OECD TG 117.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since the study was GLP compliant and followed the aforementioned guidelines, the study was given a reliability rating of 1 (reliable without restrictions).
