First-aid measures

General advice:

In the case of an accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice (present label or safety data sheet to attending physician where possible).

Inhalation:

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

Skin contact:

Wash contaminated skin with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.

Clean shoes thoroughly before reuse.

If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Eye contact:

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Check for and remove any contact lenses. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. If eye irritation persists, get medical attention/advice.

Ingestion:

Rinse mouth. Call a doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

Note to physician: Treat symptomatically.

Protection of first aiders:

Provide first aid to the victim only when it is safe to do so. Avoid personal risk of contamination.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

Harmful if swallowed. May cause an allergic skin reaction. Causes serious eye damage and skin irritation.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:

No specific treatment. Treatment of exposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient. Have the Safety Data Sheet, and if available, the product container or label with you when calling a doctor, or going for treatment. Symptoms may be delayed. Persons with pre-existing skin or respiratory disease may be at increased risk from the allergic properties of this material.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable extinguishing media:

Foam, powder chemical, carbon dioxide, dry sand. Use extinguishing media appropriate to the surroundings.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Strong water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed, such as: carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide.

Advice for firefighters:

Fire-fighters to wear appropriate protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) with a full face-piece operated in positive pressure mode. Clothing for fire-fighters (including helmets, protective boots and gloves) conforming to European standard EN 469 will provide a basic level of protection for chemical incidents.

If it is safe to do so, move container away from sources of heat. Avoid inhalation of material or combustion products. Stay upwind and keep out of low areas. Use water spray to cool unopened containers. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear suitable protective equipment to prevent any contamination of skin, eyes and personal clothing. Avoid breathing dust. No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training.

Remove any sources of ignition, provide sufficient ventilation and limit dust formation.

Environmental precautions:

Collect contaminated water / firefighting water separately. Do not discharge into the drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Avoid dust generation. Using a vacuum with HEPA filter will reduce dust dispersal. Place spilled material in a designated, labelled waste container. Dispose of via a licensed waste disposal contractor. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulation.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid raising and breathing dust. Obtain special instruction before use. Observe good industrial hygiene practice for chemical handling. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Handling systems and areas should be operated in such a way as to minimise exposure to dust. Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Manual handling guidelines should be adhered to when handling sacks.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Store in original container protected from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters:

Exposure limits: None known

DNELs: Refer to section 7 of the registration dossier

PNECs: Refer to section 6 of the registration dossier

Exposure controls:

Appropriate engineering controls: Provide local exhaust ventilation. Ensure work areas are compliant with occupational exposure limits.

Personal protective equipment:

Eye: Wear safety goggles or safety glasses (with side shields) in line with EN 166.

Clothing: Wear appropriate industrial clothing.

Hand: Use chemical resistant gloves consistent with EN374.

Recommended thickness of the material: ≥ 0.35 mm

Butyl rubber or nitrile rubber.

The selection of a specific glove for a particular application and duration of use in a workplace should also take into account all relevant workplace factors such as, but not limited to: Other chemicals which may be handled, physical requirements (cut/puncture protection, dexterity, thermal protection), potential body reactions to glove materials, as well as the instructions/specifications provided by the glove supplier.

The chemical resistance and breakthrough times of the personal protection gloves should be clarified and confirmed by the supplier.

Small tears in the gloves and cross-contamination can easily occur.

It is recommended to change the gloves frequently and to limit the work to be done manually. Before removing gloves, wash them with water and soap.

Individuals having sensitive skin may find it beneficial to use a barrier cream or moisturizer when excessive or prolonged contact with the skin is likely.

Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation use breathing apparatus with filter type P (respirator in line with EN 149:2001 as a minimum).

Environmental Exposure Controls: Dispose of contents and container in line with national and local regulations. Avoid contamination of sewerage system. Contact local environment agency if large volumes enter waterways.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Stable under normal conditions of use.

Chemical stability: Stable under normal conditions of use.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: None known

Conditions to avoid: Avoid activities that generate dust.

Incompatible materials: None known

Hazardous decomposition products: During fire, gases hazardous to health may be formed, such as: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: Do not release product into water ways, sewers or landfill. Dispose of in accordance with local and national regulations.

Product/ Packaging disposal: Do not re-use empty containers. Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.

Waste treatment-relevant information: Dispose of contents/container according to local national regulations.
