Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
photometric method
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
< -4
Temp.:
25 °C
pH:
6
Details on results:
The following concentrations were obtained after equilibrium:
c (octanol) < 3.10 ^-8 mol/l. No test compound could be detected in the octanol phase, by backextraction (10:1 octanol:H2O) into water and spectrophotometric measurement in water.
c (water): 2.96.10 ^-4 mol/l

The value of LogPow obtained shows that the expected Pow lies outside the range of flask shaking method and should be estimated by the calculation method.
Conclusions:
Log Pow < -4 at 25 °C and pH 6.0
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient was first evaluated by using the shake flask method, according to the OECD Guideline 107.

The value of LogPow obtained shows that the expected Pow lies outside the range of flask shaking method and it was suggested that it should be estimated by the calculation method.

Conclusion

Log Pow < -4 at 25 °C and pH 6.0

Description of key information

lower than -4 at 25 °C and pH 6.0

Key value for chemical safety assessment
