In the preliminary test (heating ramp of 5 K/min, ignition flame was dipped into the test item every 1 K) ignitions were observed at 115.5 °C, 118.0 °C and 115.5, respectively.

In the main test, no ignition was observed at 115.5 °C and 120.5°C within an equilibration time of 120 seconds.

Subsequently the equilibration time was varied and the ignition flame was dipped into the test item approximately every 10 seconds (see Table 3).Each single test was limited to a maximum duration of 300 seconds or it was stopped if ignition occured.

The lowest flash point corrected to 1013 hPa was rounded down with an accuracy of 0.5 °C giving a value of 109.0 °C.

The flash point of the test item is therefore 109.0 °C at 1013 hPa
Executive summary:

The flash point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to EU Method A.9 (Flash-Point), using a Rapid equilibrium closed cup method (ISO3679, 2015).

The equilibration time was varied and the ignition flame was dipped into the test item approximately every 10 seconds. The equilibration time was extended to a maximum of 300 seconds. The flashpoint of the test item is stated as 109.0 °C (382.15 K) at 1013 hPa.

Description of key information

The substance is NOT classified as a Flammable Liquid according to Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP criteria) and UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).

 

Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents.
