Results

The reference item is considered to have explosive properties in our experimental conditions.

CONCLUSION

The test item is not considered to have explosive properties under our experimental conditions.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item is not considered to have explosive properties under the applied experimental conditions.
Executive summary:

A test on explosive properties according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.14 was performed to determine the explosive properties of the test item. After safety-in-handling tests to establish safe conditions for the performance the main test series was conducted. The impact sensitivity of the test item was determined in the BAM Fallhammer test with impact energy of 7.5 J. In six independent measurements no explosion occurred. The sensitiveness of the test item on the effect of intense heat under high confinement was tested in a steel tube with an orifice with diameter of 6.0 mm and 2.0 mm, respectively. Three independent measurements with each diameter were performed and as overall result no explosion was observed. Therefore, it is considered that the test item has no potential for explosive properties.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the explosiveness study does not need to be conducted as there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties in the molecule (reference 4.14-1).

Additionally, a test on explosive properties according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.14 was performed to determine the explosive properties of the test item. Therefore, it is considered that the test item has no potential for explosive properties (reference 4.14-2).

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

Based on the structure of the molecule and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the twelfth time in Regulation (EU) 2019/521, the test item does not have to be classified with respect to explosiveness.
