- This parameter/method is not relevant for classification, however the information is useful regarding potential additional fire hazard. No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage.
- Executive summary:
The study was conducted under GLP according to standard DIN 51794:2003 -05 (listed in EU A.15 guideline).
Under the test conditions, the lowest temperature that will result in the ignition of the test item after being injected into the apparatus was determined as 350 °C between 1007 and 1019 hPa. This value was determined using approximately 0.7g of test substance. The test substance showed auto ignition after 3 seconds.

- JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with column 2 of REACh Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is a solid having a melting point ≤ 160°C.
As presented under section 4.1 and 4.2, the substance is described as a dark brown solid with a melting point between 16.4°C and 36.8 °C (and it is flowable at a temperature from 65-70°C as reported in the flowability pre-test described in the relative density study (see endpoint 4.4)). Therefore no test to determine self-ignition temperature (for solids) is required.
Note also that in the ECHA endpoint specific guidance on information requirements (R.7a, v6.0, July 2017, §R.7.1.12), "solids are considered under self heating substances" and "the UN Test N.4 is preferable to generate the information for this endpoint."
Considering the substance as a solid, self-heating properties (and UN Test N.4) should be considered instead of relative self-ignition temperature and this endpoint was considered in this dossier (see endpoint 4.13).

The lowest auto-ignition temperature of the test item was determined to be 352 °C in the main test.
The auto-ignition-temperatures were above 300 °C and the three lowest results of the tests with 2 K steps were within a range of 20 K. Therefore, the results were considered as valid.
Due to safety reasons and according to the guidelines the lowest measured temperature at which an ignition was observed was rounded to the next lower number divisible by 5, giving a value of 350 °C (1007.3 -1019.4 hPa)
Description of key information
Considering the physical state of the substance (solid with a low melting point at ambient temperature), two tests were taken intoaccount to evaluate the auto-flammability properties of the substance:
The self-ignition temperature was waived because the substance is a solid with a melting point ≤ 160°C.
The auto-ignition temperature of the test item is stated as 350 °C (1007 -1019 hPa).
No particular hazard is anticipated in normal conditions of storage

A GLP fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized EU/DIN method, is available. Therefore, it is considered as a key study. The result is retained as key data.
