Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) was observed to be a blue purple solid powder.

Melting point:

Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43,the melting point of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4-hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-) was  estimated to be 350 Deg C.

Boiling Point:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which melts above 300°C. Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43,the melting point of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) was  estimated to be 350 Deg C.

Density:

Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0, the density of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4-hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-) was estimated to be 1.89 g/cm3.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The study does not need to be conducted because the melting point is above 300°C. Based on prediction done using MPBPVP v1.43,the melting point of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-)was  estimated to be 350 Deg C.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data from modeling database using the KOWWIN V1.68 program, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4-hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-) was estimated to be -1.61. Thus, on the basis of logPow value, chemical disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4-hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-) can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4-hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) was done as per the shake flask method. The solubility was determine to be 2000 mg/L at 25 Deg C. Thus the chemical is considered to be soluble in water.

Surface tension:

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. Disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3-[[2-hydroxy-5-sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2-sulphonato]](6-)]]dicuprate(2-)  (Cas no. 6798-03-4) is used as a dye. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.

Flash point:

The study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids.

Auto flammability:

Disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus disodium [μ-[[7,7'-iminobis[4 -hydroxy-3 -[[2 -hydroxy-5 -sulphamoylphenyl]azo]naphthalene-2 -sulphonato]](6 -)]]dicuprate(2 -) was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid.
