Registration Dossier

Administrative data

First-aid measures

The manufacturing/use of the registered substance fulfils strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, no exposure of man or the environment is expected. In the case of accidental exposure, the following measures should be taken (as reported by the Safety Data Sheet):
Eye contact
- rinse immediately with tap water for 10 minutes - open eyelids forcibly
- consult a physician if irritation persists
Skin contact
- remove contaminated clothing immediately and drench affected
skin with plenty of water
Inhalation
- remove the casualty to fresh air and keep him/her calm
- in the event of symptoms get medical treatment
Note to physician
- treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media
- water spray jet, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide
Specific hazards
- Vapours may be invisible and they are heavier than air. They spread on the soil and could penetrate into the sewerage system
and into cellars.
- heating containers will cause pressure to rise (risk of bursting or
explosion)
- substance is hazardous for water: contain fire-fighting wastewater
Protection of fire-fighters
- precipitate gases/vapours/mists with water spray
- use self-contained breathing apparatus
Special method of fire-fighting
- cool endangered containers with water spray

Accidental release measures

The manufacturing/use of the registered substance fulfils strictly controlled conditions. Therefore, no exposure of man or the environment is expected. In the case of accidental exposure, the following measures should be taken (as reported by the Safety Data Sheet):
Personal precautions
- keep away sources of ignition
- if this does not endanger the action force or other people, air sewers and cellars
Environmental protection
- collect the leaked product by all means available
- if the substance reaches waters or the sewer system, inform the competent authority
Methods for cleaning up
- collect liquid by means of sand, earth or another suitable material or cover it with foam
- during the pouring by a pump bear in mind adequate earthing
- collect the product spilled out into ventilated containers equipped with absorption filters

Handling and storage

Handling

Technical measures
- processing in closed systems, superposed by inert gas (e.g. nitrogen)
- take precautionary measures against electrostatic charging
- provide exhaust ventilation
Suitable materials
- enamel, glass, stainless steel

Storage

Storage conditions
- cool and dry
- in closed containers
- in closed rooms forced ventilation is required
Packaging materials
- tightly closing; material: stainless steel

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection
- in case of open handling or accidental release: respirator with independent air supply or protective mask with
combined filter
Hand protection
- protective gloves (eg made of neoprene, nitrile or butyl rubber)
Eye protection
- safety glasses

Stability and reactivity

Stability
- unstable in aqueous solutions

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues
- incinerate in qualified installation with flue gas scrubbing
- observe local/national regulations regarding waste disposal
