Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
Deviations:

GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
plate method
Surface tension:
56.8 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
90 vol%

RESULTS:

a) Surface tension of the substance at 25 °C: Due to the high viscosity of the test item, the test could not be done.

 b) Surface tension of the mixture with 1 g/L test item diluted with demineralized water: 56.5 mN/m (mean value) **

** A large portion of the test item is not soluble in water. Therefore an accurate determination of the surface tension was not possible.

c) Surface tension at 20 °C of a solution of the test item in water with a concentration corresponding to 90 % of the saturation solubility: 56.8 mN/m (mean value)**

d) Demineralized water after filtration 72.0 mN/m (20 °C)

Conclusions:
The surface tension at 20 °C of a solution of the test item in demineralized water with a concentration corresponding to 90 % of the saturation solubility, was determined by the plate method using a tensiometer. The following result of 56.8 mN/m at 20 °C was received (Currenta, 2009). .
Executive summary:

The surface tension at 20 °C of a solution of the test item in demineralized water with a concentration corresponding to 90 % of the saturation solubility, was determined by the plate method using a tensiometer. The following result of 56.8 mN/m at 20 °C was received (Currenta, 2009). .
