Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- Inhalation: Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Provide rest, warmth and fresh air. Get medical attention.

- Ingestion: Immediately rinse mouth and provide fresh air. Drink plenty of water. Try to induce vomiting. Never maken an unconscious person vomit or drink fluids. Get medical attention.

- Skin contact: Remove affected person from source of contamination. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the skin immediately with soap and water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Eye contact: Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eye lids. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues

Fire-fighting measures

- Extinguishing media: Fire can be extinguished using: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Foam. Dry chemicals, sand, dolomite etc. Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.

- Special hazards: When heated, vapours/gases hazardous to health may be formed. When heated and in case of fire, irritating vapours/gases may be formed.

- Advice for firefighters: Containers close to fire should be removed or cooled with water. Water spray should be used to cool containers. Use air-supplied respirator, gloves and protective goggles.

Accidental release measures

- Precautions for safe handling: Minimise exposure and emissions according to Strictly Controlled Conditions. Provide good ventilation. If enclosed handling cannot be guaranteed, ventilation and protective clothing including respiratory protection, must be used. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Keep away from combustible material. Avoid contact with strong oxidisers. Avoid contamination. Good personal hygiene is necessary. Wash hands and contaminated areas with water and soap before leaving the work site.

- Conditions for safe storage: Store in tightly closed original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly sealed when not in use. Protect from light, including direct sunrays. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance is to be handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions as defined under REACH Article 18(4) throughout its life cycle.

Specifically the substance is to be rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle; procedural and control technologies are used to minimise emissions and any resulting exposures; only properly trained and authorised personnel handle the substance; special procedures are applied during cleaning and maintenance works. In cases of accidents  and where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies are used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposures; and substance-handling procedures are well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator.

Stability and reactivity

- Conditions to avoid: The product is stable at ambient temperatures and if used according to given applications.

- Products to avoid: Caustic (alkaline) substances, strong oxidizers and reducing agents (reaction).

- Hazardous decomposition products: Formation of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide during the combustion of the product. During the thermal decomposition of the product toxic and irritating vapours/gases are released.

Disposal considerations

Methods of disposal: The generation of waste should be avoided or minimised wherever possible. Empty containers or liners may retain some product residues. This material and its container must be disposed of in a safe way. Dispose of surplus and non-recyclable products via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
