Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Information from published review article in peer reviewed literature, minor restrictions in design and/or reporting but otherwise adequate for assessment.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
191 g/L
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
2.3
Remarks on result:
other: +/- 1 g/L
Details on results:
In some cases the PGM concentrations measured by ICP-OES showed a tendency of increasing values at each equilibration time. If the last two vessels varied by less than 15%, the test was deemed satisfactory. If the last two vessels varied by more than 15% then the analysis was repeated with longer equilibration times until the criteria was met.
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): moderately soluble (100-1000 mg/L)
The water solubility of dipotassium tetrachloroplatinate was reported as 191 g/L at 20°C.
Executive summary:

The water solubility result is taken from a published review article in peer reviewed literature and followed a standard guideline. The result is considered suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint. The water solubility of dipotassium tetrachloroplatinate was reported as 191 g/L at 20°C.

Description of key information

The water solubility of the dipotassium tetrachloroplatinate has been determined to be 191 g/L at 20.0 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
191 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Gregory (2014) is an experimental study following OECD TG 105. It is available as a published report and is acceptable for use as the key study for this endpoint. The water solubility of the dipotassium tetrachloroplatinate has been determined to be 191 g/L of solution at 20.0 °C.
