Description of key information

L-isoleucine is not considered to have surfactant properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 "The study need only be conducted if:

— based on structure, surface activity is expected or can be predicted, or

— surface activity is a desired property of the material"

The substance does not have both polar and non-polar groups, which are considered to be necessary for surfactant properties. Surface activity is not a desired property of the substance. Therefore L-histidine is not considered to have surfactant properties and the study does not need to be conducted.
