- Water media type:
- freshwater
- Limit test:
- yes
- Total exposure duration:
- 96 h
Test conditions
- Hardness:
- calcium 28.9 mg/L
magnesium 4.9 mg/L - Test temperature:
- 20 ± 1 °C
- pH:
- 8.00 to 10.60
- Dissolved oxygen:
- 9.7 to 9.8 mg/l
- Salinity:
- not specified
- Conductivity:
- not specified
- Nominal and measured concentrations:
- 0 mg/l
1000 mg/l - Details on test conditions:
- As the test item showed low toxicity, the study was conducted as limit test at the
concentration 1 g/L.
24 hours before the start of the test, food was withheld from the designated test fish.
Observations were made at the start and at the end of the test, measuring pH and
Orconcentration in each vessel. In each test vessel and in the control vessel with
pure dilution water, ten fish were placed.
Criterion was the death of the fish within 96 hours. A fish was considered dead, if no
visible movement could be observed. Dead fish were removed from the vessel immediately
after observation. - Reference substance (positive control):
- no
Results and discussion
Effect concentrations
- Duration:
- 96 h
- Dose descriptor:
- LC50
- Effect conc.:
- > 1 000 mg/L
- Nominal / measured:
- nominal
- Conc. based on:
- test mat.
- Basis for effect:
- mortality (fish)
- Details on results:
- No mortalities occurred in the control.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The main study was performed as a limit test at the concentration 1000 mg/L. No mortality was observed. The pH and the oxygen value of the water were normal. The following results for the test item were determined:
96h NOEC =1000 mg/L. - Executive summary:
In a short term toxicity to fish study on leuciscus idus, the 96h NOEC was determined to be 1000 mg/L and the 96h LC50 to be >1000 mg/L.
