Description of key information

Samarium trinitrate was determined to be very soluble in water with a maximum solubility in the range of 1220 to 1560 g/L at 20.3°C and pH = 0.43.

The maximum solubility did not significantly change when increasing the pH to approx 5, while above (i.e. pH = 6.86, not possible to reach a pH > 7) the test item precipitated and the solution became pasty. The solubility was thus significantly decreased when the pH was adjusted to environmental values due to the precipitation of the test item.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
1 220 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

An experimental study of reliability 1 according to Klimisch, performed in compliance with GLP and according to the preliminary test as specified in EU method A.6 and OECD Guideline 105, was selected as a key study.
