Conclusion on classification


Short-term aquatic toxicity data is available for all three trophic levels (daphnia, algae and fish). The lowest short-term EC50 is for daphnia, which is a 48h EC50 of 0.67 mg/L. Since the EC50 is <= 1 mg/L, the substance is classified Category Acute 1 (H400) for short-term hazards to the aquatic environment according to EU CLP (EC no. 1272/2008 and its amendments: Table 4.1.0; (a).


Chronic aquatic toxicity data is only available for one trophic level (algae). The 72hr ErC10 is 1.9 mg/l. According to CLP Figure 4.1.1, the chronic classification has to be determined based on the chronic value for algae according to Table 4.1.0, (b) i, as well as the acute value for Daphnia according to Table 4.1.0, (b) iii, and the most stringent outcome should be leading:


 - The substance is not readily biodegradable and has a chronic toxicity value of > 1. Based on this information, the substance does not need to be classified according to Table 4.1.0, (b) i.


- The substance is not readily biodegradable, has a log Kow value of 4.3 and an acute toxicity value of ≤ 1 mg/L. Based on this information, the substance needs to be classified as Category Chronic 1 according to Table 4.1.0, (b) iii.


Overall, it can be concluded that the substance needs to be classified as Category Acute 1 (H400; M = 1) and Category Chronic 1 (H410; M = 1) according to EU CLP (EC 1272/2008 and its amendments).
