Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Measured data are not available for Triiron bis(orthophosphate) (CAS 14940-41-1), therefore read across from the comparable substance Iron (II) sulphate heptahydrate (CAS 7782-63-0) was deemed acceptable for assessment. Both substances are inorganic ferrous salts. .

The bioaccumulation potential of Iron (II) sulphate heptahydrate was tested in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 305 under the flow-through conditions. The stock solution of the test item was prepared using acetic acid as dispersant. Test fish (Cyprinus carpio) were exposed to nominal test concentrations of 5 and 0.5 mg/L (4.97 mg/L and 0.492 mg/L measured concentration, respectively). The test was terminated after 28 days. At a substance concentration of 5 mg/L (nominal) a BCF value of ≤ 2 – 2.9 was determined, whereas a BCF of ≤ 20 was determined at a test substance concentration of 0.5 mg/L (nominal).

Based on the read across data the potential of Triiron bis(orthophosphate) (CAS 14940-41-1) to bioaccumulate and the risk of secondary poisoning are low.
