Key result
Parameter:
upper explosion limit
Remarks on result:
not determinable

The flammability limits have been tested with volume of test item between 0.5 to 30%.

In the trials performed, no increase of temperature higher or equal to 20°C has been observed. No increase of the initial pressure has been also observed.

Therefore, no flammability limits can be determined. The test item is then considered as a nonflammable gas.

Interpretation of results:
not classified based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The test item is a nonflammable gas.
Executive summary:

The flammability limits of the test item were determined according to ASTM Method E-681 and under GLP.

A deviation from the guideline was observed during the test. Indeed, a 2.25 liter cylindrical stainless steel vessel has been used. Due to test item properties it was not possible to perform the study without this deviation.

Measurements of the flammability limits for gas/vapour mixture were conducted in a custom designed and fabricated by the testing laboratory.

A propagation of a flame occurred if the reaction produce at least a 7% rise in pressure over the initial absolute pressure and/or a 20°C temperature increase over the initial temperature.

Based on the results obtained, the test item is considered as a nonflammable gas according to GHS criteria.

Description of key information

The flammability of the test item was evaluated with a key study of reliability 1.

The study was performed according to ASTM Method E-681 and under GLP.

A deviation from the guideline was observed during the test. Indeed, a 2.25 liter cylindrical stainless steel vessel has been used. Due to test item properties it was not possible to perform the study without this deviation.
