Description of key information

Acute fresh water ecotoxicity tests have been carried out on the three trophic levels : algae, invertebrates and fish. No toxicity (inhibition of growth, immobilisation, mortality) has been observed up to solubility limits in the conditions of tests.

Long term toxicity studies have also been carried out on the three trophic levels. No effect were observed in the key algae study up to the water solubility limits under tested conditions.

A long term toxicity study on invertebrates was performed following the OECD 211 guideline and given an EC10 = 1.4 µg/L indicating that dibenzyltoluene is very toxic to aquatic organisms.

A long term toxicity to fish was conducted following the OECD 210 guideline with dibenzyltoluene. The overall NOEC and LOEC for this study were determined to be 5.5 and 17 µg a.i./L respectively.
