First-aid measures

General advice:

Show the safety data sheet for this substance to the doctor in attendance. First aider needs to protect himself. Place affected clothing in a sealed bag for subsequent decontamination

If inhaled:

Remove to fresh air. Keep at rest. Consult a physician if necessary.

Skin contact:

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. In case of skin contact:

Wash off with soap and plenty of water.

Wash immediately and thoroughly for a prolonged period (at least 15

minutes).

Call a physician if irritation develops or persists.

Eye contact:

Rinse with running water whilst keeping the eyes wide open (at least 15 minutes). Get immediate medical advice/ attention.

Ingestion:

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Consult a physician if necessary

Fire-fighting measures

All extinguishing agents can be used. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Specific hazards during firefighting:         On heating, Harmful or toxic vapours are released.

Specific fire fighting methods:                

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Cool containers/tanks with water spray. Wear suitable protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.  Use personal protective equipment.  Safety glasses  Face-shield.  PVC or other plastic material gloves.  Respirator with a particle filter (EN 143).  Remove all incompatible materials as quickly as possible.

Environmental precautions:

Should not be released into the environment.  Prevent product from entering sewage system.  Contain the spilled material by bunding.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Collect spillage. Keep in properly labelled containers. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Wash off with plenty of water.  Recover the cleaning water for subsequent disposal.  Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling and usage:

Provide adequate ventilation.  Use only in well-ventilated areas.  Do not mix with incompatible materials. Keep away from flames and hot surfaces. Do NOT handle without gloves. Reduce the duration of exposure to the minimum required. Use clean, well-maintained personal protection equipment. Before reuse, thoroughly clean personal protection equipment. Shower or bathe at the end of working. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a watertight basin. Keep in an area equipped with acid resistant flooring. Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Do not mix with incompatible materials (e.g. Strong oxidizing agents & Water). Keep only in the original container.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures

Provide LEV for ventilation. Dust must be extracted directly at the point of origin. Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

2. Organisational protection measures

Always have on hand a first-aid kit, together with proper instructions. Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

3. Hand protection:

Impervious gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.

Stability and reactivity

Stable at normal ambient temperature and pressure. Decomposes on heating. Thermal decomposition 88 °C. Avoid Strong oxidizing agents and Water. On combustion or on thermal decomposition (pyrolysis) releases harmful and corrosive vapours; (Carbon oxides (CO + CO2)) and Oxides of phosphorus, PHOSPHINE.

Disposal considerations

Product Disposal:

Do not dispose of with domestic refuse. The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil. Send to a licensed waste management company.

Dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local and national regulations.

Advice on cleaning and disposal of packaging:

Do not burn, or use a cutting torch on, the empty drum. Do NOT dispose of untreated packaging with industrial waste. Rinse with an appropriate solvent. Allow it to drain thoroughly. After recovery of solvent dispose of by special waste incineration. Dispose of in accordance with local regulations.
