Ensure adequate ventilation.

Do not allow  to enter drains (danger of explosion).

Environmental precautions:

Observe regulations on prevention of water pollution (check, dam up, cover up).

Do not allow entrance in sewage water, soil, stretches of water, drainage systems, surface water.

If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Take up mechanically or with an absorbent material.

Suitable binder: universal absorbent, absorbent for liquids.

Fill into marked, sealable containers.

Waste to be packed like clean product and to be marked.

Identification label on packages not to be removed until recycling.

Remove waste from closed rooms, ventilate well.

Store correctly.

Disposal according to local authority regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Use permissible in closed systems only.

Handle and transfer product in closed systems only (gas displacement device).

Always close container tightly after removal of product.

Ensure that apparatus and pipelines are free from leaks.

Do not ventilate into the open.

Provide good ventilation or extraction.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Avoid residues of the product on the containers.

Dedicated loading/unloading stations required.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Take precautionary measures against static charges, keep away from sources of ignition.

Explosion protection equipment required.

Storage:

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Store in the original receptacle, keeping this tightly sealed, under cool and dry conditions.

Further information:

Protect from sunlight, warmth and heat.

In order to ensure due transportation, make certain that stacks are of the correct height, containers are securely fastened so as not to fall off, and labelled according to the regulations.

Advice on common storage:

Observe prohibition against storing together!

German storage class:

3 - Flammable Liquids.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures:

Refill and handle product only in closed system.

If possible, use material transfer/filling, metering and blending plants that are closed, or provide for local suction devices.

Ensure suitable suction/aeration at the work place and with operational machinery.

Provide for installation of emergency shower and eye bath.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Earthing of equipment.

Leak detection recommended.

Do not add wastewater to a biological wastewater treatment plant.

Exposure controls:

The substance must be handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Article 17/18 of the REACH Regulation.

Minimization of emissions by means of suitable technical measures such as flanges and valves with low leakage rates, recirculation of vapours.

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection:

If gas/fumes/aerosols occur for short periods: Respirator with brown A-type filter.

In the event of prolonged exposure during handling: wear a self contained respiratory apparatus.

Note time limit for wearing respiratory protective equipment.

Hand protection:

Accidental release measures:

In case of full contact:

Glove material: Fluorinated rubber (Viton), for example, Vitoject (890), Kächele-Cama Latex GmbH (KCL), Germany

Material thickness: 0.7 mm, Method: DIN EN 374.

In case of contact through splashing:

Glove material: Nitrile, for example, Camatril 731, Kächele-Cama Latex GmbH (KCL), Germany

Material thickness: 0.33 mm,  Break through time: < 10 min, Method: DIN EN 374.

Selection of protective gloves to meet the requirements of specific workplaces.

Suitability for specific workplaces should be clarified with protective glove manufacturers.

The informationis based on our own tests, references from the literature and information from glove manufacturers, or derived by analogy with similar materials.

Remember that the useful time per day of a chemical protection glove may be much shorter than the permeation time determined according to EN 374 due to the many different influential factors involved (e.g. temperature).

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166.

Accidental release measures: basket-shaped glasses wear.

Skin and body protection:

Usual lab protective clothing or Accidental release measures: chemical protective suit, disposable protective suit.

Hygiene measures:

No eating, drinking, smoking, or snuffing tobacco at work.

Wash face and/or hands before break and end of work.

Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

Do not inhale vapours / aerosols.

Preventive skin protection: Use barrier cream regularly. Implement skin protection measures according to skin protection schedule.

Protective measures:

All precautionary measures indicated have to be observed.

Risk assessment and risk monitoring of all work places required.

Health, Safety and Emergency Management System recommended.

Regular safety training is a must.

Written approval necessary in case of non-routine jobs, e.g. maintenance activities.

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practices.

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

The personal protective equipment used must meet the requirements of directive 89/686/EEC and amendments (CE certification).

It should be defined in the work place in the form of a risk analysis according to directive 89/686/EEC and amendments.
