Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
13 May 2014 - 17 August 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Batch No.of test material: SC00010875
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: 9 April 2015
Key result
Boiling pt.:
260 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
124 °C

An exotherm with a mean onset temperature of 124°C followed by an endotherm with a mean onset temperature of 260°C was recorded for three separate tests. A pale yellow residue remained in the crucible at the end of the test. This would suggest that Adoxal under goes a decomposition starting at 124°C, this product then starts to boil at 260°C, with further decomposition, evidenced by the shape of the thermogram and that a residue remained in the crucible at the end of the test.

Conclusions:
Decomposition at a temperature of 124°C (mean rounded result) followed by this product starting to boil at a temperature of 260°C (mean rounded result).
Executive summary:

The boiling point of ADOXAL has been determined to be 260°C (mean rounded result) according to the OECD 103 guideline.
