First-aid measures
If symptoms are experienced, remove source of contamination or move victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration (AR) or, if the heart has stopped, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately. Avoid mouth-to-mouth contact by using mouth guards or shields. If breathing is difficult, keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing, administer oxygen if needed. Obtain medical attention if you feel unwell.
SKIN CONTACT
Remove contaminated clothing/shoes. Wash exposed skin with soap and water. Decontaminate clothing/shoes and leather goods before re-use or discard. If irritation occurs or persists, seek medical attention.
EYE CONTACT
If easy to do, remove contact lenses if worn. Immediately flush eyes with copious water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical attention if irritation occurs or persists.
INGESTION
Never give anything by mouth if victim is rapidly losing consciousness or is unconscious or convulsing. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs naturally, have victim lean forward to reduce the risk of aspiration, rinse mouth. If not breathing, give artificial respiration (AR) or, if heart has stopped, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately. Avoid mouth-to-mouth contact by using mouth guards or shields. Do not give anything to drink unless directed by medical personnel. Obtain medical advice or contact a Poison Center.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE
Combustible, but not flammable. In case of fire toxic fumes of nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), fluorine-containing compounds and other unidentified gases and fumes.
Not known to be sensitive to mechanical impact or static discharge. As with any organic material, high dust concentrations in air, may present an explosion hazard when exposed to ignition sources.
ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS
Evacuate the area and fight the fire from a safe distance. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and a self-contained breathing apparatus with a full facepiece operating in pressure demand or other positive pressure modes. Prevent fire-extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or ground water systems. Decontaminate all equipment after use.
Accidental release measures
Isolate the area; keep all unprotected people away from the spill area. Wear all recommended personal protective equipment. Prevent inhalation exposures, skin and possible eye contact. Ventilate the area if safe to do so. Extinguish or remove all ignition sources. Avoid raising dust. Ensure clean-up is conducted by trained people only. Do not touch spilled material.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP
For small spills (such as in a laboratory), collect material with absorbent, e.g. damp towel, and wash spill area thoroughly with soap and water. For large spills, use an industrial vacuum cleaner equipped with a high efficiency particulate (HEPA) filter if available. Alternatively if in solid or dried form, do not raise dust by utilizing wet clean-up methods. Decontaminate area. Dispose of material in a manner that is compliant with applicable regulations. Do not re-enter the contaminated area until the Safety Officer (or other responsible person) has verified that the area has been properly cleaned.
Handling and storage
Avoid dust generation and inhalation of dust. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and other mucous membranes. Do not ingest. Wear all recommended personal protective equipment. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not use with incompatible materials such as strong oxidizing agents. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.
The material may form explosive dust clouds in air. Dust clouds may be sensitive to ignition by electrostatic discharge and other ignition sources. Provide appropriate bonding and grounding. Refer to appropriate standards of practice for prevention of dust explosions, e.g. NFPA 69 (Standard on Explosion Prevention Systems) and NFPA 77 (Recommended Practice on Static Electricity).

APPROPRIATE ENGINEERING CONTROLS
Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to minimize sources of airborne dust exposure. Technical measures and appropriate operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. High energy operations such as milling, particle sizing, spraying, fluidizing, etc should be done within an approved emission control or containment system. Avoid combustible dust conditions or apply suitable engineering control such as inerting with nitrogen where potential ignition sources exist. If engineering controls and work practices are not effective in controlling exposure to this material, then wear suitable personal protective equipment including respiratory protection. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Have appropriate equipment available for use in emergencies such as spills or fire.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Eye face protection:
Wear safety glasses with side shields, chemical splash goggles, or full face shield as needed to prevent eye contact. For dusty operations wear full face respiratory protection. A device for eyewash should be available.
Skin protection:
Wear protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Base the choice of protection for the job activity, potential for skin contact and solvents and reagents in use.
The selected gloves must comply with the specifications in EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the related standard EN374.
Protective clothing:
Use impervious clothing to prevent skin contact. The type should be selected according to concentrations, quantities and duration of handling at the specific workplace.
Respiratory protection:
Required when dusts are generated. For open handling procedures of dry, dusty material, or situations where engineering controls may be ineffective in controlling exposure as required, wear a particulate APR (air-purifying respirator) to prevent incidental inhalation exposure. Use a powered APR equipped with HEPA-filter or combination filter or a positive-pressure supplied air respirator if there is a potential for uncontrolled release, when exposure levels are not known, or in any other circumstance where a lower level of respiratory protection may not provide adequate protection. Fume hoods or laminar flow booth in laboratory scale.
Environmental exposure controls:
Avoid release to the environment and operate within closed systems wherever practical. Air and liquid emissions should be directed to appropriate pollution control equipment. In case of spill, do net release to drains. Implement appropriate and effective emergency response procedures to prevent release or spread of contamination and to prevent inadvertent contact by personnel.
