Additional information

Trichlorosilane is an inorganic volatile liquid substance which instantly and completely decomposes when in contact with water. For that reason, no experimental testing for this property could be performed with trichlorosilane.

In water, trichlorosilane decomposes rapidly to produce a silicone polymer and hydrochloric acid.In general, trichlorosilane is not expected to bioaccumulate and/or bioconcentrate in aquatic organisms.

Conclusion on classification

Trichlorosilane is an inorganic volatile liquid substance which instantly and completely decomposes when in contact with water. For that reason, no experimental testing for this property could be performed with trichlorosilane. In presence of water, trichlorosilane decomposes rapidly to produce a silicone polymer and hydrochloric acid.

Because trichlorosilane almost instantly and completely decomposes in water, it is not possible to establish its environmental hazard properties.
