Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The results indicate no acute toxicity of 13-Ethysecol to Daphnia magna at a concentration up to 10 mg/L, which was the maximum solubility of
the test compound under the conditions of the test. The 48-hour EC50 (immobilisation) value is > 10 mg/L.
Executive summary:

The purpose of this study was to determine the acute toxicity (immobilization, EC50/48 hours) of Ethysecol to Daphnia magna. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 202.

Forty Daphnia (less than 24 hours old) were used for the test solution, forty for the control, and forty for the solvent control group. The organisms were exposed to a test concentration of 10 mg/L (nominal). The solvent was applied at a concentration of 0.1 mg/L. The test species were exposed for a period of 48 hours.

The immobilization was recorded at 24 hours and 48 hours. No immobilized Daphnia were observed either in the test solution or in any of the control groups. The results indicate no acute toxicity of 13 -Ethysecol to Daphnia magna at a concentration up to

10 mg/L, which was the maximum solubility of the test compound under the conditions of the test. The 48-hour EC50 (immobilisation) value is > 10 mg/L.
