Additional information

ZAN 573 is a powdered pasty solid with a slight yellow color and mild odor. The size of the particles was analyzed to show that most of the aggomlerated particles were < 2000 μm, larger than particles which may be inhaled by workers. When the substance is intentionally dispersed with sunflower oil, the percentage of particles under 10 μm is less than 2%. The substance does not melt, but forms a transparent amber-colored mass when heated. It decomposes at temperatures over 320oC. It is not highly flammable and does not self-ignite. It does not have explosive or oxidizing properties. The relative density is 0.99 and the vapour pressure is low, 3.61 x 10-4Pa at 20oC.  The substance is hydrolytically labile in water, and its water solubility cannot be determined. The partition coefficient is similarly difficult to determine, as the experimental result lies below the Kow value of the standards, suggesting that it is not highly soluble in lipid.
