Description of key information

Treatment with quinic acid for 3 days had no effect on growth. Therefore, we consider that quinic acid is not phytotoxic.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the publication of Carrasco, 1979 the growth inhibition of Solanum lycopersicon (tomato plants) for 3 days was determined for 3 days. Treatment up to 0.04 M (7.68 g/l) quinic acid does not affect growth. Thus, quinic acid is not phytotoxic.
