Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The result shows that the proportion of the test material having inhalable particle size (< 100 µm) is 0.199% indicating that the test material is essentially non-inhalable.

Additional information

The method used is designed to comply with that given in 'Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution', June 1996 European Commission technical guidance document.

Procedure:

Screening test (sieve method):

Test material (20.10 g) was sieved for approximately 10 minutes with the aid of a sieve brush through a 100 µm sieve. The mass of test material passing through the sieve was measured.

Results:

Screening test (sieve method)

The results of the sieving procedure are shown in the following table:

Sieve Aperture Size (µm)

100

Mass of test material transferred to sieve (g)

20.10

Mass of test material passed through sieve (g)

0.04

Test material less than sieve aperture size (%)

0.199 %

Conclusion:

Particle size data acquired for the test material is shown in the following Table:

The result indicates that the test material is essentially non-inhalable.
