The biodegradability of the test substance was studied in a CO2 evolution test according to OECD301B. The test substance and the reference substance sodium acetate was incubated with diluted activated sludge from a municipal sewage treatment plant over a period of 28 days. The test substance was only slightly degraded (7%) at the end of the test period. The reference substance was degraded according to the validity criteria . In the toxicity control, the degradation was similar to the individual sets. Thus, no toxicity to sewage sludge microorganisms was observed. Therefore, the test substance is not ready biodegradable.

The study was perfomed under GLP (Schering report X578, 21 Nov 2001).
