Description of key information

According to Annex VII of REACH "The study does not need to be conducted if:

— there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule".

Melamine does not contain groups associated with explosive properties.

From the chemical structure it is unlikely that melamine has explosive properties. A waiver is requested.

Melamine has a low potential for dust explosibility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Two studies are available on dust explosion. Melamine has a low potential for dust explosibility in both studies.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Melamine does not contain groups associated with explosive properties and is therefore considered not to require a classification as to explosiveness.
