Description of key information

Calcium sulfate is an inorganic substance and therefore will not undergo biodegradation i.e. microbial degradation to carbon dioxide and water, since it doesn’t contain any carbon or hydrogen atoms in its chemical formula. Calcium sulfate will therefore undergo dissociation into calcium and sulfate ions only.
