Additional information

Hydrolysis:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the hydrolysis test does not need to be conducted as the substance is highly insoluble in water (water solubility < 5 µg/l).

Phototransformation in air:

A study is available in which the light stability of sulfur was determined (BASF, 1991), but the study gives no information about substance transformation. The determination was performed as described in the testing method CP003: illumination of the solid test substance with white light (xenon lamp with a wave length distribution similar to sunlight, 80000 lux).

Sulfur pure test material showed a half life of 4.25 hours when illuminated with 80000 lux at 25°C. After 1.15 hours 80% of the sulfur remained unchanged. Sulfur technical grade active ingredient showed a half life of 3.21 hours when illuminated with 80000 lux at 25°C. After 0.82 hours 80% of the sulfur remained unchanged.
