Producer: 3P Instruments
Analytical Instrument Electroacoustic Spectrometry
Specification: DT 1202
Serial number: 350
Producer: Dispersion Technology, New York, USA - Calibration:
- Density was determined via use of a thermostatic Helium pycnometer. An empty sample cell was calibrated with reference materials (in this case a steel sphere) with regards to its volume. The cell was loaded with the dried sample material and the volume of sample was determined by expanding a specific amount of Helium from the loaded sample cell into a manifold volume, thus allowing for the determination of occupied volume within the sample cell.
- Reproducibility:
- The zeta potential of Zeocros CG180 was determined via measuring the Colloidal Vibration Current of a dispersion containing the test item.
In order to achieve standardised conditions pre-treatment was requested. The pre-treatment procedure includes a dispersing step, ultra-sonication and centrifugation of the dispersion were not needed. The CVI was measured on the supernatant directly after centrifugation.
The results showed good reproducibility and were in the expected range for these materials.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The calculated Zeta potential mean value was -49.9 mv (SD: 0.047).
- Executive summary:
The zeta potential of the test item Zeocros CG180 in water was determined by measuring the Colloidal Vibration Current (CVI) of a dispersion of the test material.
The pre-treatment of the test item includes the production of a 10 wt.-% dispersion with a lab stirrer. Ultra-sonication and centrifugation was not needed.
The needed parameter particle size distribution of dispersion and density of raw material were measured by laser diffraction and He-Density method.
