Additional information

The acute toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates was tested by a static test conducted according to DIN 38412 L 11. After 48 hours exposure 50 % of Daphnia magna were immobile at a substance concentration of 34 mg/l (BASF AG, 1988). Further information is available for two salts of naphthalenesulphonic acid. Daphnia magna were exposed to 1-Naphthalenesulfonic acid, sodium salt in a guideline study following DIN 38412 L 11. After 48 hours an EC50 >500 mg/l was determined (BASF AG, 1990). In a study on the acute toxicity of 2-NSA sodium salt D. magna were exposed to the substance for 100 hours in a static test system. An EC50 of 135 mg/l was determined (Freeman, 1953)

.A further study on 2 -NSA ammonium salt determined an EC50 of >500 mg/l.
