Description of key information

CTC dissolved in water does not photodegrade in any measurable amounts. The carbon atom in CTC is in its most oxidized state, therefore it is much more likely to undergo reductive degradation. It may undergo reductive dechlorination in aquatic systems in the presence of free sulfide and ferrous ions.
