Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance is considered to be hydrolytically stable at pH 4 and 7. Hydrolysis of the ester-bond was observed at pH 9.0.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In the preliminary test the observed hydrolysis of test item was less than 10 per cent after 5 days at a temperature of 50 °C at pH 4 and 7. Therefore Epoxidized Soybean Oil Acrylate is considered to be hydrolytically stable under these circumstances and normally no additional testing is required at pH 4 and 7. At pH 9, significant change can be seen in the spectra. According the structural and intensity changes, the degree of hydrolysis is considered to be higher than 10%.

It is recognised that the nature of the test item is a UVCB, with many different chemical structures present in the substance, so it would be scientifically impracticable to make a detailed analytical evaluation of the exact chemical hydrolytic products. Hence Tier 2 studies can not be performed.
