Conclusion on classification

Classification related information

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable (ca. 0 % biodegradation after 79 days based on CO2 and CH4 evolution) (ISO 11734)

Partition coefficient: Log Pow = 6.1 at 20 °C (OECD 107, OECD 117, EU Method A.8)

Water solubility: 0.027 mg/L at 20.0 °C (OECD 105, EU Method A.6)

Ecotoxicity data

Short-term (acute) aquatic toxicity

Fish: 96-hour LC50 > 0.03 mg/L (arithm. mean measured, corresponding to a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L; measured concentration equals solubility limit of substance in aqueous test medium; OECD 203, Cyprinus carpio)

Aquatic invertebrates: 48-hour EC50 > 0.03 mg/L (arithm. mean measured, corresponding to a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L; measured concentration equals solubility limit of substance in aqueous test medium; OECD 202, Daphnia magna)

96-hour EC50 (growth rate) > 0.055 mg/L (geom. mean measured, corresponding to a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L; max. solubility determined to be 0.03 mg/L; OECD 201, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)

Long-term (chronic) aquatic toxicity

Fish: 34-day overall NOEC >= 4.0 µg/L (arithm. mean measured, corresponding to solubility limit of the test item in test medium; OECD 210, Danio rerio)

Aquatic invertebrates:  21-day EC10 (reproduction) > 3.0 μg/L (arithm. mean measured, corresponding to solubility limit of the test item in test medium; OECD 211, Daphnia magna)

96-hour NOEC (growth rate, OECD 201) >= 0.55 mg/L (geom. mean measured, corresponding to a nominal loading rate of 100 mg/L; max. water solubility determined to be 0.03 mg/L; OECD 201, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)

Classification, Labelling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

The available experimental test data are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The substance was  assessed to be not readily biodegradable. Its Log Pow was determined to be 6.1 at 20 °C. The water solubility limit of the substance was measured to be 0.027 mg/L at 20.0 °C. In guideline-compliant short- and long-term tests with fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae no toxic effects were detected up to and including the water solubility limit of the substance. The substance is therefore neither classified for aquatic short-term (acute) toxicity, nor for aquatic long-term (chronic) toxicity according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP), as amended for the seventeenth time in Regulation (EU) 2021/849.
